I was wondering if any of you have sponsors and how you went about getting them. Obviously the best way is to show what you've done and what you can do, by going out to the tracks. This past year we've only hit up one, and that was on friday nights for the "street races", but hopefully this comming year we can hit up a few more during regular runs. Also, do any of you have a IHRA or anything of the sort number? If so, is it just like getting a regular # for any given track? (granted this one carries over to all the tracks in that "group"). If you could give me any info on a good way to approach people for sponsers, it would be greatly appreciated. Right now we're working off of extra student aid money (having the state pay penn state full price and then getting 75% of that back because your mom works there helps out alot with cash! LOL) But we're looking for money we won't have to pay back 10 fold down the road heh, plus the recognition of the work we've done would be awsome too. Thanks for you help in advance!

On of the guys in Xrated CC is sponsored by Kaotic graphics. The reason for this is that the club needs different vinyl looks for shows, club stickers, modification displays, etc. In return, Kaotic got to plaster my boys car with 5lbs of vinyl. You'd have to put a gun to my head before I'd let anyone sticker up my car but it is a good deal for him and the shop, and it helps the club out as well.
Personally, I get a nice discount and special help from S and S in the Twin Cities. S and S builds F-Bodys, Vettes, etc. They got tired of dealing with the idiots involved in the import scene, so the fact that I get any help at all is dumbfounding. When I came in there I knew most of my nitrous tech, learned well, and took speed/nitrous very seriously. I wasn't like the rest of the ricers and the owner noticed that. He used to tell me that, "I have to teach one of you [import guys] how to use [nitrous] right." If you want sponsorship you have to be serious, you have to get recognition for the shop, and you have to be different than the next guy. Luckily in racing that tends to mean that you know your ****, keep your car running, be consistent, and win once in a while.
What makes me different is a clean, gutted 94 prelude VTEC with a two stage nitrous system(50 shot single fogger/100 shot direct port) and a fuel cell set up going in this winter.

**** sponsors, they don't get you to where you wanna be, they are there after you get there. If I can make it to a quick 16 and I know I've done it on my own, it will be that much sweater.

Im working on some more for this upcoming season.

 

ya SPC is pretty easy to get sponsored from. we have a few cars with the LCA's and the camber kits, etc. pretty cool free stuff

 

I'm not looking for anything big. I know a few people who have gotten "sponsored" by new places looking to get their name out and gave them parts to spread the word. I know what we're doing now isn't too different from anyone else, alot of people here are able to do the same or better I bet, but it's hard to get better/be different without some backing. Atleast what we've done so far shows we know what we're doing but are lacking cash and or parts. We already get a discount from A&A (local state wide tuner part place). Thanks for the info I was provided, it will surely be helpful in one way or another! And another thing, I think it would be cool just to know your work got you to a point where you could atleast tell someone "Ya, and I'm sponsored by..." when they ask about your car. We started this project maybe a year ago? Give or take, and we're currently in the 12's with a full interior street driven. This winter we're going to be building up a JDM block so we can turn up the boost some more.

Im looking for bigger stuff thoguh. hopefully it will be easier next year, now i got my business kinda rolling and maybe will get my name out there more. we'll see.
