Hello and thank you. I need some karma

My daughter's car vibration is getting pretty bad now and I need to solve since she leaves for college in September.

2005 Accord EX with 98K miles.

At startup the entire car shakes violently. It does this until the car engine warms up as I drive it. After I drive the car for awhile, the vibration is not as bad but still unbearable.

I thought changing the engine mounts would fix it, but it did not. I changed all the mounts myself. Same amount of vibration and made no difference. I have changed the spark plugs as well.

Hope to get some advise. I was thinking dirty IACV but wanted more advise from others.

No engine codes or DTCs. I hooked up my Sears OBDII reader and it is clean. All sensors are functioning properly.

Does this vibration occur sitting still? Is the engine missing?

If it's only doing it while moving, I'd check the axles.

@Hometheaterman - if engine was missing, would it now throw a code? no OBD codes.. No performance issues with the car. Other than the vibration, acceleration is great.

@poorman212 - it is a four cylinder...

 

Have your throttle valve checked.

 

Hmmmm perhaps its time to stop dicking around on the internet and look for a competent repair shop.


It is your daughters car after all.

I want to learn to fix the issue.. Taking it to a mechanic does not guarentee it will be fixed and I dont learn anything. Furthermore, it is very challenging to find a competent mechanic.


The car vibrates especially when engine and weather is cold. Once the engine is warmed up, no issues with vibration

This is a four cylinder.

The vibration is unbearable at startup even when car is moving. As mentioned, once the car has warmed up, the vibration is not so bad.

So far, I have changed PCV and both O2 sensors. They needed to be changed anyway. I also cleaned out the throttle body/valve.

It does if the shop is competent and honorable. We offer 3 years/36k on ALL our repairs.

What exactly do you hope to learn. This vehicle is over 10 years old and obviously well beyond your mechanical abilities. Again,youre playing games with your daughters car here,why?
This I acknowledge. However Yelp seems to be a good indicator of where to start.
Unfortunately I dont have a silver bullet for you. I need the car here to inspect it. I suspect there is much being lost in translation here from your keyboard to my eyes.

I agree with DCFIVER in this case. It's very hard to diagnose an issue like this over the internet and it really sounds like you need a good mechanic to look it over. Just throwing parts at it like you're doing is probably going to cost you way more than have a professional diagnose it for you.
