how to repair 3rd gear grind
Hello everyone, I have a hydro ls trans with a 3rd gear grind. Was planning on replacing syncro to fix it but torebit apart an the syncr is actually in good shape but the gear itself is what's causing the bite. I can get a new slider but can't buy a new gear for ls. Only available for gsr b16 or type r. I've checked Acura synchrotech and gear speed and can find a replacement. So my question is does anybody have experience repairing the gear itself? I remember reading a while back someone had sanded the rough edges and kind of re shaped it to work but I was looking for a refresher or some info on this. I dont want to shoot in the dark by trying it myself just off memory and causing more damage. Thank you in advance for any help.
In situations like this, you need to post pictures of the parts you plan on reworking. The procedure itself is fairly straightforward, but without gauging the severity of the wear, you may be wasting hours and hours of time, for nothing in the end.
Post pics of the gear, the synchronizer, the synchro and the gear installed on one another, and the hub and slider as well.

Yes post pictures up.. but usually you can just replace the engagement ring and a new slider but I would throw a new synchro in it at the same time if it was me.. Synchro Gear 3-4 B16 GSR ITR H22

Unfortunately the synchro gear engagement teeth can only be replaced separately on the B18C/B16A GSR/ITR. The LS trans has a one piece 3rd gear and the engagement teeth are part of the gear.
