Icon4 crankshaft position sensor error code 04

hi guys, i have a honda civic 1995 ex. my car runs ok but when i get to 3000 rpm the car start kicking. when i get the codes, shows error 4 (crankshaft position sensor), i feel frustrated becouse i want to go faster in my civic.. i search on internet and people say if i change the distributor, problem its over becouse 1992-1995 honda civics have the ckp inside the distributor... i dont understant why the car is runing normally with a damage in the cpk... im affraid to purchase the distributor and then not work...

anyone can tell me how to check the ckp sensor in my civic?

Ohm test the two CKP pins at the ECU connector using a multimeter.
