94 accord 9 cel code question
Need help. I did the paper clip trick and it threw the 9 code. Not sure what to look for of exactly where it's at. I did research before I got he code and thought it may be the ect sensor. At times I have to mashed the gas pedal to start it. That being said after my research I bought a ect. Like a bone head, I then got the code and looking for answers for my next move. Thanks
9 from the CEL is for the CYP sensor. That is located inside the distributor and requires replacement of the distributor as it is not component that can be purchased/replaced separately.
Verify the wire harness/connections are not loose or corroded.
Verify there is no oil leaking from inside the distributor.
ECT would have been code 6.

Thanks Mike. Like I said, being the bone head I am I was buying parts instead of diagnosing the problem first. I've had minimal problems with the distributor before so replacing the whole thing problem wouldn't be the worst thing. I also had the abs light blink as well. It didn't repeat itself though. 2 slow blinks and never repeated. You have an idea of what that is?
Two long flashes from the ABS is just a check, if there were any codes they would appear after the two long blinks. ABS codes are in a #-# format, with no number greater than eight.
So I know it's been awhile since I asked this question. I have since got around to replacing the distributor like Mike mentioned. That being said its still throwing the 9 code. Not only that, while the engine is running, the new dist sounds like it has marbles inside it. Is there a special adjustment needed for that to stop and with the CEL code 9 still flashing what else do I need to look for?
Take a close look at the distributor connectors for any loose wires or possible corrosion or grease or dirtiness inside.
It's possible the used distributor you're now using is also bad.

I did spray contact cleaner inside everything before booking them back up. I drove a little over the weekend and today and the light stays off a while then back on. I'd assume I may need to check any wires next??
I didn't want to start another thread about basically the same thing but even after changing the dist my problems seem to continue. When cold, 30-40° in the am, it's hard to start. Once it's started it will sputter and if it doesn't die I will give it gas to keep it going then it's fine. After 8-10hr day of work and sitting all day I go to start it and it will do the same thing but this time it's even harder to start. Has this anything to do with the CEL 9? It's seems more fuel related.
