Icon7 1990 Honda accord transmission stuck

I have a 1990 accord with a 5 speed transmission. It seems to be tearing up trannies.(2 in the last 18 months). This time I downshifted, and it locked up. What I have concluded is the tranny is stuck in 5th gear. In neutral, it will move as in 5th, but if i put it in any other gear it is as if it is that gear and 5th at the same time. Is there anything other than this transmission has gone out as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Verify the master and slave clutch cylinders are not leaking/failing/misadjusted.
Dragging the clutch or not fully releasing when pressing the pedal will cause excessive wear on the transmisison.
Verify that the trans has fresh oil in it and it is filled to the proper level.
