D15B2 need some opinions!
Howdy Y'all!
I have 1ea D15B2 engine block fresh back from the machine shop all degreased and clean with a fresh hone. The machinists told me the cylinders are worn, but it is still a usable block. I have tried selling these parts, but it seems D series engines are just not that desirable.
SO! That gives me one option- to rebuild it, of course.
I am not looking to make a ton of power. Not looking to turbo charge. not looking to engineer adaptors, or put a ton of money into it. I want this spare engine to be a fun, peppy, quick swap I can do if my current engine blows up.
So my question is, what is your opinion on building one of these? I have the cylinder head that came with it, should I use it? go with a Z6 head? Would you go with D16 pistons? What kind of intake do you like? i would prefer to stick with stock Honda parts of it all possible.
I have read about a dual cam D series, not sure if it would be worth the money? Is dual cam possible?
My vision is to throw the internals I already have back in it, maybe putting a Z6 head on it, and whatever belt it needs to get that to work and a better flowing intake. Can anyone see a better way of doing this?
I understand there is a search feature, but I want the opinions of people that have been in the arena. what went well, what didn't.
Thanks, guys!
