Default clutch and flywheel combo for mild gsr build

I'm looking for some suggestions on high quality and great performing clutch and flywheel combos. I drive this car to work and school everyday so nothing to harsh or noisy.

Spec are..
b18c1
Head Milled .010
Buddy Club hi comp headgasket
Buddy Club spec 3 + cams and Gears
edelbrock Performer X /Ported
Omni 68mm throttle body /Port matched
5zigen 98spec Type R JDM header
T1R Testpipe
RSR Exmag exhaust
RC 310cc injectors
Hondata s300 V3

I was looking at the Competition Clutch stage 1 and ultra light flywheel 8.5lbs.
I've never used anything from Competition before. I've been a long time Exedy user. Maybe a stage 1 or OEM exedy and flywheel would be a better choice for my needs?

I just broke in my comp stage 1.5 and i'm in the same boat. All exedy until now. I like the comp so far. It feels like my old exedy stage 1.

I also installed an act 12 lb flywheel and like it too.

I personally love the mfactory flywheel, clutch and pressure plate combo. Good stuff. Exedy is good for your means as well.

Oem exedy! Works great and usually half the cost of any "race" clutch

Is the oem exedy enough to handle my current torque numbers and not slip?

If you want a more "aggressive" feel than stock and a more holding power w/o breaking the bank the exedy stage 1 disc and act streetlight flywheel will feel nice. I had it on my old GSR daily and loved it. That clutch and flywheel held my LSV turbo @ 350whp 240tq as well. Guess what I'm running on my current build

Seriously, IMO the best clutch for mild NA hondas out there. Takes abuse, holds well, and it's fairly cheap. I am an exedy fan...they make many the OEM pieces if I remember right

The exedy stage 1 is my first choice. I've never had a problem with any exedy clutch i've installed, hell my sr20 240sx is still running a the exedy stage 2 i installed about 8 years ago.

The Competition stage 1 is about $70 less than the Exedy and holds the same amount of tq. I would like to keep this clutch and flywheel combo under $400. I can get the CC stage 1 and 8lb flywheel for about $385 shipped.

I've seen very promising reviews and some very negative ones regarding Competition clutches. Seems like the s2000 and rsx/si guys love them.

I use the exedy Integra-R specific clutch kit @195whp and it's perfect. The stage one works great too, I have run 12's on slicks with one before. That's actually the only thing I would use to justify the stock replacement vs stage 1, is drag race/launching or not.

And for the record, exedy is not the sole supplier of clutches for Honda. FCC is the oem on many of them including my 95 GSR.

So i ended up going with the Exedy stage 1 and Exedy 9.5lb flywheel. Got a smoking combo deal on ebay i couldn't pass up.

I called a few major Honda websites and pretty much all of them told me to go with an Exedy OEM type r or a Stage 1. They said a Exedy OEM max hold is around 130-140lbs of torque to the wheels. But they also advised me to leave a little bit of wiggle room when installing a new clutch. Around 20% over what you think your tq is going to be. And the stage 1 holds 187lbs of torque at the wheels. So 20% over 140 is around 170 lbs of torque. This clutch is perfect for a NA build B series.

Thanks man. I almost ordered the mfactory flywheel and the exedy stage 1. But this exedy deal i found was too good to pass me by.

On another note. What other odds and ends should i take care of with this clutch install.

So far my checklist is
Rear main seal
axle seals
axle nuts
axle retainer clips/rings
new bitch pin
Thinking of doing new lower ball joints well the axles are out.
...anything else???
