98 Civic DX -

After picking up some replacement headlight assemblys that were aftermarket, I noticed that the headlight beam is pretty scattered and not consistent between the two at all. Using Sylvania ZXE bulbs.

You can see dark spots and tell the beam isn't level when pointed at the back of a car or the side of a building.

Is this because aftermarket is cheap *** crap and can't replicate OEM beam patterns? Or was it just my specific off-brand I bought that's junk? Has anyone else had problems with aftermarket housings?

 

Nonspecific question is nonspecific. We don't know what aftermarket headlights you bought. We don't know what year your car is. We don't know what bulbs you're using. We aren't psychics.

 

I updated the year & model far before you commented. Try refreshing. I believe the brand is Eagle Eyes but it doesn't say on them and the receipt/boxes is long gone.

 

That's a Taiwanese company. So basically, they're $20 eBay headlights, and they're acting like...$20 eBay headlights.

 

Yes, aftermarket headlights just scatter the light. TSDR: non-oem quality aftermarket bullshit.
