91 civic clutch play
just recently swapped the clutch in my wifes ef original owner had the cable maxed out. it was hard to go in gear. replaced clutch and new clutch cable and there is tons of play in cable i can max out the cable. im not sure where to start looking
so heres the whole story wife drove it to work one day got off work went out to turn it on stepped on clutch wouldnt go in any gears. i thought it was the clutch cable so replaced that with a new one same thing still towed it to garage and decide to replace clutch and pressure plate and t.o.b. so everything is new once installed i went to adjust the clutch cable and its maxed out and still not going into gear. looked under the dash notice the clutch pedal is broken. would this cause the issue with the cable being maxed out?

It seems like I wasn't the only one, This exact same thing happened to me on my Sedan just a couple of months ago, Car won't go into gears and I tried to push the pedal a little and heard a snap and when I looked under the clutch pedal had broken at exactly the same spot like yours, I welded and repaired the pedal and even bought a new cable but just to check I put the old cable back in and it worked fine so the problem was with the pedal.
Its not the clutch or the cable but the pedal and in my case the pedal had stretched the old cable out of shape and it too eventually snapped just a couple of weeks ago so I replaced it the one I had bought lying spare in the trunk and now its smooth as a butter.

Is the clutch fork on the TOB properly? Can you see down in the hole that they are moving in unison together?
You may have stretched the new cable? Idk without looking at what's going on.
The fork should not move by hand. Just a small amount like in the video.

The new clutch cable was never used I dropped transmission to see if maybe the fork was bent or spring messed up looks all normal I'll post pics in a few minutes nothing looks wrong.
