I'm buying a 90 civic hatch from a buddy with a b16a swap in it but the tranny grinds into 2nd and 3rd when you shift hard so the syncros are going out. Can I go down to a Honda dealer and get syncros or are they hard to source for these trannies?
I don't remember what tranny he used but I know the swap had a pr3 ecu so it's an integra XSi tranny.

 

you have to get a jdm syncro kit, the syncros are differnet on those tranny's compared to the US tranny's, someone correct me if im wrong

 

the first thing to do is drain your transmission fluid and refill it with honda mtf. usually that'll fix your problem.

 

should be an S1 tranny.
try replacing the MTF first.

 

just because the swap came with a certain ECU, it doesn't necessarily mean that the motor, trans, and ecu all came off of the same type of car. If the trans is off of an XSi, then it probably has the S1 trans. You can tell what kind of car the motor came off of if you check the stamp on the engine block. there is a serial number underneath the "B16A" engine code. If it starts with a 1, then it came of an Integra XSi or RSi. If it starts with a 5, then it came off of a SiR Civic or CR-X. And yes, you have to get JDM synchros. I don't even think that you can go to Acura and a order synchros for the 92-93 GS-R (YS1).

my b16 came with y1 and pr3, and i would like to know where to get synchro kit for jdm y1 aswell

What comes with the y1 kit. Syncros only? What about the gear sets and all the bearings? I am also interested.

 

The complete Rebuild kit from Honda Japan Costs a arm and a leg Say around 600$ not worth it. besides more than 90% of the time the only thing that is Jacked up in the Y1/J1/S1 trannys are the snycro rings between 3~4th gear.... I re~built about 7 of them and they all have the same wear patterns...and these cars have less than 60000kms on them.

Anyway the "Syncro Kit" only comes with syncros for that price..

Trust me, its not straight 10-30, just smell it, it smells just like Gear oil.
