question bout speedometer

i have a 95 dx eg civic coupe with a d16z6 and p28 ecu. ever since i got the car the odometer stopped and the speedometer hasnt worked. how would i go about fixing this. what part(s) do i need if any.

Is your VSS plugged in? Is your CEL on? Does it work?

yues my vss is plugged in. my fuel guage works, temp guage works but odometer and trip dont work, and neither tdoes the speedodometer i dont think its the cluster. any ideas?

Does the CEL work? It should come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key to ON(II), then turn back off.

Does it go into VTEC? If the VSS is truly unhooked and the speedo/ odo is the problem, the car shouldnt go into VTEC. The speed sensor, in combination with oil pressure, give the 'ok' for that to happen.

Yea it works when started. Cel that is and I'm not sure how to know if vtec kicks in
