ob of water pumpreplacement and timing belt replacement for 3204 but the mechganic ...1000$ for acco
here is the problem
last week my waterpumpbroke and was able to get an estimate for the job of water pumpreplacement and timing belt replacement for 320$ but the mechanic had to scheduleme today but three days ago.the car just stopped while i was driving it from the grocery......( had tohave it towed) today when i brought it to the mechanic he said that it might be that my timing belt broke and probably ruined some of my valves/pistons and would be expecting cost of parts and labor for 1000-1200$ i just got this honda accord '90(143000mi) last six months for 2500 $ and spending 1000$ is far out my budget any suggestions on how i can lower the costs .....how about parts at the junkyard or new engine?.... thanks

an enine swap would probably run you just as much but you MIGHT be able to gank the head which would come with all the stuff you want replaced 'cept the w pump and pistons. never tried it though so i don't know if the junkyard would let you. f22a1 sell for about $500 or less.

ya they're old, abundant, and few ppl want them so they're that damn cheap.

I just had my 92 Accord LX (Canadian trim) in for timing belt replacement, water pump, etc. It cost over $1000 CDN, there was an oil leak causing a bulge in the cover and the pulleys in that area just destroyed the cover, put a nice big hole in it.
If your timing belt broke while it was running, I'd probably say $1000 is about right to get things fixed. Better start looking for an engine instead like everyone else said.
