I'm having some problems with my PIC bushing install on my 93 Civic which will be running some cheap, aftermarket camber arms and toe arms along with some OEM ITR LCA's.
The front bushings went in fine. The sizes were nearly exactly the same as stock, but the rears are giving me a bit of trouble.
I ordered the 94-01 Integra bushing kit for my Civic because that's what PIC told me to buy. The rear inboard and outboard bushings supplied by PIC for the ITR rear LCA's are the correct diameter, however they are significantly shorter than the OEM units.
I've talked to PIC and they said they're fine...and that the length would fit inside of the control arm...If they're not the same width overall (not just including the sleeve), I could see this making sense, but overall, they look to be of a different width.
Should I just install them and hope for the best or what? The control arms look to be of rolled aluminum sheet or something, so they can bend inward and outward at the bottom... This would allow me to squeeze them together where the inboard and outboard bushings would sit, thus making the face of the bushing flush with the surface of the control arm.
Also, I am installing some eBay rear camber arms on the car, and the PIC bushings are slightly smaller in diameter than the bores of the camber arm eyelet holes.
I was thinking of having a friend machine a sleeve of the correct thickness to account for this slack, or just tack-welding the bushings in myself.
Re: ITR Rear LCA and Camber Arm PIC Bushing Install
The arms are steel.
I installed an older set of Hardrace bushings that had been in a box in my garage for ten years and had similar issues with the camber arms. The were still a snug slip fit, but I realized that there was no way that they wouldn't end up moving in the arms. I just ended up grinding back some of the paint on the arms and bushing shells and putting three small tack welds around the perimeter of each bushing. They've been in for a couple of years like that now with no issues.
Re: ITR Rear LCA and Camber Arm PIC Bushing Install
I had the same issue with the Hardrace Type R kit. I ended up buying new LCAs from Acura and noticed they were different than the ones I had. The new LCAs indeed use the bushing that comes with the Hardrace/PIC kit.
Did they use a different LCA on the 98 spec? Maybe we're using CRX LCA's?
