Default 94+ ft GSR swaybar work on a 93 civic??

Greetings everyone, since many a times I post in this forum and get answers so I hope you don't mind since it's not dealing with an ITR swaybar or anything ITR for that matter. But, if anyone can let me know if a 94 or newer gsr ft sway bar will work on a 93 civic dx, I'd appreciate it. I have a 94 civic ex front swaybar on right now but why not step it up. I'm sure all I will need if this swap works are the ft lower control arms and links from the gsr, or will the civic ex lower arms work?, cheers

because your car will handle worse.

bigger is not better in the front.

Your ex arms will work, but you'll need all the bar attachment hardware from the gsr (end-links ect...).

I'm aware that bigger it's always better, but I guess in this case it may not be. I know that sus. tech. and progress and other companys out there upgrade the front somewhere in the ball park of 20-24mm and rear as well for the 92-95 civic's. I thought that if a gsr which sits along the same frame set up and near the same weight that it would be a wise up grade also cause I that (correct my name if I'm wrong) Roger Foo with his old yellow eg had a GSR ft and ITR rear which is what I was planning on doing but in your experence it didn't work for you maybe I will try out the setup with the civic ex ft sway and latter try the gsr, I was mainly making sure it will work....thanks for the info guys

so I can reuse may civic ex lower control arms and bolt the gsr sway to it, great...

Am I the only one who saw this thread title as being about a 94 foot long sway bar?

What's the application? For certain classes in autocrosses, you might like the results on certain course setups.. otherwise, generally you want to add roll stiffness in the back, not the front, on a FWD vehicle.

Chassis tuning is a game of trade-offs.. if someone says "more X is always better", be very suspicious..

I have no information to add regarding whether it will fit or not.

the gs-r front bar is the same size as the itr front bar. 24mm. it will work on a civic. other then the bar, you will need the bushings p#51306-st7-00 and the endlinks p#51320-st7-003. those are off of the del-sol vtec si that also used the same sway bar. pm me if you would like me to get them for you. also, the 99-00 civic si used a 26 mm front bar, and you can use the bushings from that car and the endlinks from the del-sol to make that bar work as well.

some additional information. the front sway bar, due to the geometry of the bar and suspension, only has a wheel rate of about 65 lbs/in. up from the 40 lbs/in of the ex 21mm bar. the si bar ups the ante to about 90 lbs/in. none of these numbers are high enough to significantly change how much your car pushes or rotates. it will however, dramatically increase how quickly your car transitions. read: excellent for autocross. to get the same rate out of springs, you would have to add 200lbs/in of spring rate to get the same change as going from no bar to the si bar, or 100lbs/in of spring rate to go from the ex bar to the si bar.

nate-who wonders if anybody DOESN'T think he's looked into this quite a bit

Wow, good info. Thanks for edumicating me... I've heard the 6g Si anti-swaybar is the same as on an EK9. I have one and want to put it on my EK, but I'm missing some of the hardware, and I've been told that I need Si LCA's and damper forks. I have the ITR rear bar as well, but need the beaks kit and some hardware for that as well.

Does anyone here work for a Honda parts dept that could hook me up with good pricing on the stuff I neeD? PM me if so.

er...where do you think i got the part numbers from?? if you switch lca's, you could use the 6g si endlinks, but you would also have to use the 6g strut forks, since they are a different size on the 6g si. an easier alternative is to use the del-sol vtec si endlinks, which work with the 5th and 4th gen lca's. on my 5th gen, i'm actually using nissan sentra endlinks with a 1/4" spacer. the endlinks and the correct size bushings are all you need. the bushing retainers are all the same.

alot of people overlook the fact that a larger front sway bar can be very beneficial....there is something to be said about transitional response, especially if you autoX. there have been numerous times that I've gotten my *** handed to me by a peksy 90 HS civic with the largest front bar I have ever seen on a civic! plus he had some pretty trick shocks but still, STS cars should still be faster than HS, cause STS was faster than GS at nationals this year!!
