Default MR-K

Hey guys, it's been a few years since I've raced with you all so I've been thinking about building a new toy. I picked up a
03 Toyota MR2 Spyder for a great price. It's a awesome car just real under powered. So for now I'm trying to decide on
either turboing the stock 1.8 or going with a K swap.

Can you guys school me a little on what to buy, what combination works well and were to get a good deal. I'll need engine-trans-harness
and computer to make it all work.

If I go K, the plan will be to start N/A then build to a big turbo and have some real fun!

Steve

K swap for sure. It's a no brainer in my opinion.

That would make for a really fun car!

Im working out the dollars and cents, K swap is a bout $1500-2000 more if I pay retail for everything.

Innovative mounts and shifter $650, axles $800, Hondata $900,adapter harness so the dash and HVAC work $300, not sure were to source a engine
or witch engine to get. thinking 2.4 would be the better setup, $2-3K for engine and trans? Then plumbing and exhaust work. So $5650 for high 12's.
I know with a turbo this engine will respond much better then my 1.8..

The 1.8 turbo would be more like, T28xx $700-1200, manifold $295, AEM EMS4 ECU Kit with adapter harness to keep the dash working and a base tune $1395,
Air/Water I/C $300ish, plumbing and exhaust, 550cc injectors $300. Gonna need a clutch soon after and pistons and rods after 250hp. So $3500 For 250HP.
Good for mid 12's. Soon after $1000 for engine work and $300 for a clutch. $4800 for 350hp and high 10's.

Hate to say it I'm leaning towards turboing the 1.8 unless I'm way off on my K series engine and parts to put it in.
