Default Header question

Will a d15b5 or d16 header bolt up to a d15b1?

Yes, all d series headers are the same, the only thing that changes is the length you have to adjust the Cat or test pipe for it to fit the ehaust.

To be more specific, all "88-00" SOHC D-Series are "compatible."

Awesome, and not trying to change subject or be a nuisance, but do you believe a d16a6 would be good with low boost. Obviously with a good tune, do you think i can reliably ~200whp safely for a year or so?

If the engine is in good condition, then yes! The A6 responds very well to boost.

Awesome great to hear. What setup would you reccomend if you don't mind. Im new to boost and the automotive aspect. I have a very experienced cousin who will help and stop me before i mess something up, but he is making me do it by myself, its the best way to learn, lol.

I like the way your cousin thinks!

This is a great source of information.
It seems overwhelming, but once you figure the basics for what you need, you will be able to sort through the information pretty well.

From there, you can start asking turbo question in the forced induction forum. If you don't have an idea for what you are doing and why, then don't bother posting in there. You will be told to go educate yourself. Nobody likes to spoon feed turbo information.

Take a look into searching other A6 motor builds with hp you are after. Then you should be prepare to start planning out your shopping list. Greddy used to make a decent kit for the D16Z6 that would be a good base to get you to the numbers you are looking for. A little modifications and tweaking and 220hp~250hp has been had using that kit. You might want to look at this kit (they don't make it anymore) to get an idea for parts.
