Icon5 Best street slicks

Trying to find the best street slicks for my EG hatchback. See a lot of threads saying "BF Goodrich g-Force T/A™ Drag Radial " but they seem to be discontinued. Not sure if anyone has any other options on good street slicks? Also came upon these and weren't sure if they're specifically for lapping or would work for drag too. Thanks.

The RA-1 by toyo is a solid street radial as well.

Icon5 Widest slicks on EG

Not sure what's the max width for a tire on my 94 eg hatchback, but just seeing if anyone knows if 225/50/15 slicks will fit. Or if getting 205/50/15 slicks is better or the only way to go. Thanks.

You could get 225/50r15s to fit but you wouldn't be able to go as low, and you'd have to be very mindful of wheel offsets. 225/45r15 is a better size to run. A roll and pull would also be necessary. 205/50r15s would fit much easier but you're missing out on an inch of tread width.

The toyo t1r uses the same compound as the r888, but has more tread depth so the tire will last longer.

Non of those are street slicks. If you want straight line traction the M&H bias ply radial hands down. As far as more of a street tire for all around street tire but want more straight line traction look towards the mickey thompson's.

I've used the M&H Dot drag slicks, had to stretch them to fit a 6.5" wheel.

I run a 225/50/15 Mickey Thompson radial on my EM1. I can't see an EG being much different

M&H 235/60/15 Bias Ply.

I tried to get some back in April and they were on a huge back order. Ended up getting a Mickey Thompson 225/50/15. They held pretty well on 600whp

I'm from MA, and everyone over here recommend those saying they're the best. Do you have any idea which type of Mickey's they are though?

They aren't bad. Like I said they hold 600whp pretty well. I still would have went with the 235 M&H if they would have been available though

225/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street R's have been the best tire I've tried so far on the street with over 500whp and boost by gear.

How much taller are they actually then the bias ply 235-60-15's? I'm thinking about giving theses 245 55 15's a try or the MT 275-50-15

they are slightly taller. not much. like 1/4 inch. but waaaay heavier. if your making tuns of jam ( like 700+) go with the 275 if you can.

That worries me a bit.. I'm still on a stock GSR transmission and I don't think it will like the 275-50-15's. Plus it will kill my gear ratio also

oh yea stock trans might not like that lol. im running a refreshed gsr with a 5th gear handcuff ( bryan built ). hasnt failed yet. the taller tire allows you to highway drive in 4th.

245/45R15 RA1's suit the CRX pretty well.

Really, every tire is good at different things. I have absolutely no interest in drag racing whatsoever, and don't do track days. I pretty much just do hillclimb races (time trials up mountain roads), so it's RA1's or Hoosier A7's for me.

If you really want good handling, something like 245/50R13 A7's would be pretty ideal. Easy to get up to temperature, plenty of grip, and reasonably short gearing.

I assume MA is Taxachussets? Whereabouts?
