2005 Odyssey Died on Thanksgiving
On my way to Thanksgiving dinner it sputtered a few times then just died and I had it towed home.
When I insert the key, the backlights on the dash glow for a few seconds, then fade out (normal). No other dash indicator lights come on when the ignition switch is in the ON position. When turning the key to start, the engine doesn't turn over. No click from the starter. Nothing. Radio, power windows and locks, heater fan, and turn signals all dead.
Thankfully the emergency flashers worked as I was on a very busy street. The brake lights, interior lights and headlights are also working. The red light for the anti-theft system occasionally flashes.
Here's what I've done so far:
1. Checked the battery - OK.
2. Connected my OBD-II code tool - no response
3. Pulled and visually checked the fuses under the hood and under both sides of the dash - OK.
4. Checked power to the fuse box under the hood - OK.
5. Checked the forums - could not find anything definitive.
I installed a new Honda OEM ignition switch about a year ago although I used the original key FOB sensor. It also has a remote starter that was disabled years ago.
I don't know where to go from here. I'd like to avoid towing it to the dealer if possible.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.
