Default Lost All My Gears

Was coming off the freeway and was down shifting to 1st (4 spd) went ftom 4, 3, 2 and when I attempted to go into 1st (clutch fully in) it grinded like the clutch was not in, and when I tried to take off from the stop, it acted as if it were going into the gears, but acted as if it was in neutral. I tried 2, 3, 4, and R. I also heard a tiny metal clanking noise as it was grinding initially. Curious if maybe something got disconnected from the shifter to the tranny because I don't think I would lose my whole transmission via what happened.

Is it possible that its something simple?

Also, could my whole transmission be fried because of this?

I'm thinking I would have heard more damage be done or felt more commotion if my tranny blew.

I'm not too familiar with the drive trains of these things as its my first one. Any info will help

Thanks.

Its a 1990 EF hatch d15 4spd No p/s no a/c

if your linkage disconnected you would hear it dragging on teh ground.
sounds like you need to pull the tranny and open it.

The clutch cable could have broken or something along those lines. Better to actually diagnose the problem before things are ripped apart.

An axle may have popped out of the differential. Get under the car and see that both axles are fully seated in the transmission.

It grinded when going into first because even though the clutch was in, The speed was too high to go into first. If you want to go into first while you're still rolling, you need to rev match.

Also, try changing your transmission fluid. And, as stated above, could be the clutch not engaging properly, or your clutch is worn entirely.

On my first integra i missed a heel toe down shift and dropped the clutch. The rpms went from 1500 to 6000 all at once. Heard a distinct noise. Cars clutch was super heavy after and gears wouldn't want to go in. grinded every gear. The clutch was blown up.
