All Motor Street Civic Goes 9.5x At WCF. World Record?!
I believe the TAE used auto parts civic went 9.5s a few times, in testing and then a 9.59 in competition at WCF?! This is a world record, correct? And they are doing this with a 99mm stroke K?
I believe they are using a JBRE "killer 99" 99mm stroke bottom end, not sure who did their head. They do get to compete at 1900 pounds instead of 2150 pounds that the big stroke 2.7L K's have to compete at. Still, they did a 9.51 @ 145 Mph in testing and a 9.59 in competition. That's crazy! Lol

I guarantee its a long rod motor. jbre knows his stuff and has done just about every combo. Also now with that new 4 piston super 99 head to match that short blocks efficiency. It's just incredible how fast these cars are becoming.

Basically these guys saw an advantage in the rule book, run at 1,900 pounds (250 pound weight break) because of the shorter stroke. Using the power to weight ratio to their advantage... I'm sure a well put together 99mm motor can take advantage of a high Rpm power band and make within 10-15 Whp of a long stroke motor. The weight savings will help an all motor car out every where, 60', 330' 1/8th mile etc!

Its very easy to do a long rod motor with a 99mm crank or any engine. Longer custom rods with a raise piston pin height. The better rod to stroke ratio just raises the powerband up higher into the rpms.
Ahh well there ya go, I wasn't sure on that. I wonder if the 99 stroke has more Rpms than the larger 106s?!
