Default d16z6 only runs with dizzy to far back

Hey guys, I am new to the site but I have researched every forum here and everywhere else before posting.

Here is my problem and all background I have:

I purchased vehicle non running with blown headgasket. ordered parts, took head to a notable machine shop (decked tested tanked) repaired, set timing. BEFORE everyone keeps saying double check your timing ive set it 6 times. its dead nuts with the cam marks and mark on crank pulley. (no I didnt remove pulley and align with arrow on oil pump yes the key is in it) no check engine light. runs kinda somewhat okish at idle with dizzy back towards firewall where the holes are past each other. everything is connected all plugs have fire, all injectors have fuel. please help!!!

1995 civic d16z6 100% bone stock.

You need to check mechanical timing, not ignition timing. Ignition timing is done from the cover, mechanical timing is done from the oil pump and cylinder head alignment methods. It is one thing in your situation that would cause this type of problem. The other I suppose would be the quality of the head, gasket surface, compression, etc.

What are the other problems you are having? Does it only idle? Will it run down the road fine? Need as many details as possible.

it idles but like it has a miss, the belt is set correctly. Ive done a million timing belts, and ive re checked this one a million times. I did advance the cam 1 tooth yesterday which allowed me to bolt the dizzy in correctly but still runs like garbage. i drove it and it sounds like a go cart, almost like one would with a clogged cat. all cylinders get fuel/fire. im thinking there is another problem i wasnt told about.

map, tps, pcm etc.... ive ruled out iac testerday.

This is of some concern. Why did you have to change the timing to bolt on the distributor?

Have you actually verified your firing order is correct? Could be your spark plug wires are clocked one spot off (CCW by the sounds of it).
