Default New owner of a 99 Integra ls

Just picked up a 99 Integra ls clean title b18b 5 speed. The car needs some body work and a paint but the inside is clean it has ac and power steering shocker lol.

Well I am wanting to beef it up quite a bit but I am undecided on what engine to go with. I'm think 230 to 250whp area and I definitely want a lsd. I was wanting to stay all motor and I don't have a super high budget but I was thinking either gsr swap or I could get a h22 which would put me right at 200hp but does the aftermarket support a h22 as well as a b18. I know the h22 is a bit heavier but which would be easier make the best power and be most reliable and fun to drive in the long run?

GSR swap would be more cost effective. Probably more aftermarket support too.

Pushing over 230whp N/A on a b series isn't considered "budget" cams/valve train/bigger injectors/EMS/Tune not counting the bolt ons it comes pretty close to a basic turbo set up. The thing with the H/F engines is the fact they're not as easily drop in as just another B, mounts/shifter cables/driveshafts etc. In reality a simple gsr/ITR swap with basic bolts ons would be plenty fun for most people.

230hp at the crank is very doable and cost effective. OP didn't specify if he wanted that output at the wheels or at the crank. I also recommended the GSR because of how easily they swap in. Like you said the H series needs custom mounts, shift linkage, axles, among other things.

Um... yah read that again. no **** 230 "hp" is doable at or around 250whp is the outer limits you can get out of a N/A b-series and even then you'll be at 2.0L vs 1.8. Read before you post and maybe back it with some specs/facts btw a healthy B18C1 will only be putting out around 150whp give or take.

Yet you're the one who jumped at me for saying "230whp is a stretch" good come back bud.

I said 230 at the crank is very doable and cost effective, I never disagreed with you and even went on to concur with your H swap statements. I didn't say, NO! B_Swapped93 YOU'RE SO WRONG. Its all about perspective. The world is not out to get you.

The only thing that confuses me about the b swap is how the vtec works

VTEC ecu for the corresponding engine and the sub harness which is the wires that run to the solenoid from the ECU. It's all plug and play ppl were doing this back in the early 90's you know. the harness can simply be bought from rywire for $50 just run it through the firewall to the solenoid in the VTEC engine. it's all online we cant give you a step by step/hold your hand it's all out here, just google VTEC swap/ls-vtec.

Doable= yes

cost effective= not really, lol

Have you even considered the cost of suck a venture?

- B18C swap $3000
- stronger clutch $300
- cams $300
- pistons $300
- HD S300 $600
- header $250-300
- exhaust $300
- arp rod bolts
- better injectors $300
- custom port/headwork ???
- extensive tuning ???
- plus all the nickle & dime stuff.....new plugs, timing belt, cap/rotor, seals, headgasket, thermostat, hoses, ect

Yeah, doable....but cost effective? Think again, lol

Either way if he's asking how a vtec engine would work in an ls this is just pipe dreams/waste of time.

Put a turbo kit on it and call it a day. Once you fealt forced induction you will never go back to All motor. I have a stout all motor B18C-5 right now and its fun and fast for the street but when its boosted its a whole diffrent feel.

then with the extra cash buy a lsd gsr trans or ITR trans and you will have a great trans.

Add a vtec head and get a bit more power retuned.

You dont have to pull your engine you can do all this with the engine still in the bay and make 300 whp very easy.
