Rear Disk conversion Brake Caliper question
I have a 1990 Civic Si. I am working on a rear disk conversion. Everything is going pretty smoothly. I agree there is no need to drop the tank. I got trailing arms from an Integra. They came with the calipers. The calipers were in bad shape but I kept them so I could recover the core charge on some new calipers. The new calipers are not mirror images. The left one has the hose heading straight down. The right one points the hose towards the center of the car but as a result the hose is required to make a tight bend which just doesn't look correct to me.
Here is the really odd thing; the original calipers were also different but exactly the opposite with the left hose pointing towards the center and the right hose pointing down.
First question is this normal? Which way should the brake hoses point? If they are supposed to be the same which one is correct? Finally what brake hoses are appropriate for this configuration?

honestly i wouldnt worry about it too much. the parts store doesnt pay attention to what is perfect by honda standards, if it fits they sell it. What i would be concerned about is if the bleeder valves are in the right orientation to the top of the caliper.
Just different manufacturers. Those calipers where used for probably 10 years on Hondas. Different variations will happen. I believe I'm in the same boat though. One side I know is Nissin, the other is not.
