98 ITR NE3 transmission question
So 98 ITR with NE3 lsd trans.
Replaced both axles and when spining one side the other spins oppsite? Just installed swap and have not had an LSD trans before, so i'm wondering if this is fine, spining pass forward and drivers side is going oppsite towards the rear.
This is an HMO motor so I trust it but haven't seen this before. I have read some other threads but no specific answer on this question.
Thank you in advance!
Dave

Lol....I'm sure it has a LSD. If you look through the axle hole, you'll see straight through with no obstruction.
A worm gear (helical) LSD doesn't wear out like a clutchpack diff does. It either works, or it failed catastrophically.
If you drive it in the air with the engine, they will both move in the same direction. If you put more resistance on one wheel compared to the other, it will behave like an open diff.
Helicals only work when both wheels are on the ground...and if both wheels have at least *some* traction. They work on the principle of torque multiplication between wheels.
For this reason, they don't work when:
-lifting a wheel during cornering or hitting track curbing.
-if one wheel is on extremely slick ice.

Also...I think its N3E. Put it together and take a turn in first gear. Slam on the gas mid corner. It will be pretty obvious that its working or not. Don't do this around cars or curbs or pedestrians lol. Do it in a parking lot or a track.
