Default 1997 civic, d16, rattling noise possibly from tranny?

97 civic sedan. Making weird noise kinda like rattling noise when clutch is not pressed in and still does it while its moving. Still drives fine, any thoughts on what it is?

Let me know if you need more info

Your throwout bearing may have eaten itself alive.

OP I'm only gonna tell you this once:

GET YOUR **** LOOKED AT.

Sounds like your input shaft bearing is about to grenade. My civic did the same thing for a couple years and I ignored it. Eventually the bearing busted inside the transmission and the transmission was trashed as a result. Get that **** fixed, and replace your clutch and throwout bearing while you're in there.

@NAR, the throwout bearing would make noise when the clutch is pressed in, when there's a load on it, not the other way around.

Normally, yes, but if the throwout bearing had literally eaten itself alive, then it would be rattling freely without any pressure. I've only seen it once, in a severely neglected car. The load of the clutch being pressed is the only thing that pushes it back together to stop the blatant rattling.

Yes, a noise under those conditions is usually the input shaft bearing, but the ISB doesn't rattle.
