Can guys help me determine, what my civic would be worth for selling on craigslist?
Ok my current car a 2000 honda civic,it's engine is not doing good, and i need another car,so i need to sell my car for a down payment towards another car.
It is a white 2000 honda civic 4 door with 125.8k miles the body is in decent shape, small dents and dings, and clear coat fading in a few small spots,no rust except on the muffler because it rusted off,but the rest has no rust due to it having an under coating.
Also the windshield is cracked, but it will still pass inspection in my state.
The tires are used tires, but one is flat and it is on the space saver spare right now,it has honda alloy wheels instead of the steel wheels,i had planned to replace the tires with new one is a few months when i had the money.
The engine is a D16y8 it has a blown head gasket, and bad water pump, but does not put out smoke,it is eating coolant because of it,it does try to over heat, but is drivable.
The transmission is in great shape,no problems with it that i know of.
The down sides is it was stolen from my work in 2013,but recovered less than a week later with the only damage from it was they yanked out the lock beside the drivers seat so they could make a key using that.
Also i was able to get an auto check on it,it was a lease car for the first 4 years of it's life,it was in a minor accident at aroud 80k miles or so in the left rear, but i could not tell anything had happend.
Here are some pics of it i took at around 100k miles.
this is a pic of some of the clear coat coming off.
this is a pic of the muffler after it rusted off.
this is a pic of the where the muffler was after it rusted off.
According to Kelley blue book,my car in "Fair" shape is worth $2338,but i know engine wise it is worse than "Fair".
So what do you guys think i could sell her for? Do i have any chance of getting $1k for her? Because that is how much i need for down payment.

2000? Thats good
White? Thats good too
VTEC? Also good.
four door? Thats not so good.
Flat tire..? Is it shot out or could it be repaired? Thats the difference of $1 to $100.
Bad head gasket huh? Hmm, thats probably about $500 in parts.
Another $500 to $1000 for labor.
I would recomend checking out the tire, and then contemplating repairing the engine. Its honestly not difficult, and completely possible for an inexperienced person to do if they've got about an hour to read the directions and 8 hours to do the work.. I would consider it there pal, you could potentially make $50 an hour very easily by repairing the vehicle.

The $50 an hour thing is under the assumption that you want 1,000 for the car. And that you'll be able to get $2000 after spending $500 on parts.
Realistically, i would tell ya the car is worth $100. Perhaps negotiate up to $350, maybe $400.
It might be worth closer to 1,000 as a "mechanics special", but I believe the overheating issue alone cuts the value by way more than half. Who knows what else is really wrong with her? Valve guide failure entails a significantly higher repair cost than just a head gasket, and there's no way for me to guage an oil consumption problem with the condition the car is in.

I know my tire is shot, and i don't have the $500 for the parts, plus i need a good working car sooner rather than later, because i have not been able to visit my mom 75 miles away in almost 2 months.
This is why i am tryin to sell it. i just need to know what it is worth.

I wouldn't spend more than $400, $500 if i'm drunk. I cannot vouch for anyone else, i suggest getting EG hatch's opinion. He has a football helmet as his icon.
If it was an EK hatch it would be a totally different story. I might spend $800 on a 2000 hatchback with a blown up d16 vtec under the hood

I would just be patient if possible. Someone might really want a sedan and pay you more than I would. Personally, I know they don't go for half as much as a hatchback does.
99-2000 is the year range that is most desirable out of any non-si pre 2006 (thats when the 8th gen was released). It just sucks that you have the least desirable body style. The trim level, color, and year are all right.
