It could have been the fuel injectors. If the previous owner used 240cc fuel injectors that came with the y8 IM than you are getting too much fuel.

May not of been the TB at all.

You shouldn't need to splice anything. The pigtail should be there for you to directly plug in the IACV, unless the PO already did the proper IACV conversion.

Before you go diving down the rabbit hole of replacing random ****, let's do some proper diagnostics. Is your CEL on? Does it work?

the last owner looks like he cut the wires as the y8 iacv is a 2 wire an the y7 iacv is a 3 wire an the plugs are different

you need to plug up the hole going to the 2 wire iacv.

IIRC, Doesn't the EX automatic T/B have the 3 wire IACV on the bottom ??? Why couldn't you use this with your Y7 ECU and extend the wiring if necessary... and if the Y8 Intake manifold was originally for a manual, simply leave the two wire IACV bolted to the back of the manifold and unplugged.

Do you have the 3 wire automatic IACV, or the 2 wire manual IACV currently installed? Given all of the talk about the PO converting to 2 wire, we're all operating on the assumption that you have a 2 wire IACV. No, you can't just clip the plug off. I've already given you a direct link to what you need to do to convert to 3 wire. Do it. Simple as that.

yup. you can just leave the i/m mounted iacv where it is, no need to get fancy and start plugging crap up.

the 2 wire iacv might be open so that is why i suggest the air port on the intake manifold be plugged up or else there would be a vac leak, idle will be hard to adjust. I've done this on my current setup before it was converted to 5spd. It had the 2 wire iacv and I had to use a 3 wire auto iacv. Had idling issues so I had to plug up the hole leading to the 2 wire iacv. I later bought a block off plate.
