What tranny for the LS Swap????
Hey everyone! Well eventhough I have had tons and tons of trouble with my d16y8 swap, I am not letting that get me down and I am getting an LS swap done this week, since my car died on me today
. What kind of times should I be looking for on an LS swap with I/H/C/E. More importantly what trans should I use with this swap?? Is there a better choice than the LS trans like a GSR? Keep in mind I am limited on funding right now. As it stands the LS swap with a rebuilt LS trans is going to cost me $2,500 and I get a t-belt-water pump, as well as a valve adjustment. So any how what trans??!!! I am soo excited!!

$2500 for an LS swap is way too much, you can get a complete b16 swap for less than that. as far as the tranny, if you want to keep it cable, the best one would be a 92-93 GSR, although you probably wont be able to find one.
what tranny you choose should depend on what you plan to do with the motor. if your planning on goin all motor which isnt a great idea with Ls then you would shoot for a b16 tranny. if your planning on nitrous or turbo which is the best to do with LS then try to get a LS tranny. reason being that b16 gears are short and great for all motor but Ls gears are long, great for boost. just my 2 cents 2500 is a little high for a LS swap unless that includes installation. then about average. good luck.
b16 swap is only 1300 dude. but go with the LS. you can make it go much faster for alot cheaper. but only if your intrested in drag.
no way a complete b16 swap is 1300, unless you're getting stolen parts. Maybe jst for the motr, tranny, ecu...... shipped to your door and maybe the axles. In parts alone, if you get top of the line **** (HAsport mounts, Wiring Harness, Shift Linkage) You're already spending over $2000 to do the swap, + labor!
If you dont want to do it yourself, I would at least purchase all the parts on your own THEN take them to a shop... you'll save $$$. If you do wanna try it, http://www.phatwhippinCRX.20m.com I've got B series swap instructions on there..... it's mad easy man.....
As for the tranny, the A1 tranny is your best bet. It's the stock LS tranny (aside from the YS1). The B18a/b in stock form isn;t gonna be well-suited to short gearing, high RPMs, etc......

phat whippin .. when you go to the distributor and ask for a swap would it come with mounts? no need to state the obvious .. any complete from a distributor comes with linkage. harness why the hell would you buy a hasport harness? common sense tells you to use what you got and wire up what needs to be wired. so lets see here.. 1300 for swap. 370 for new hasport billet mounts.200 for axles, puts us at 1870. linkage .. make your own. if your good at swapping motors then you can cut and reweld your mounts. and i never said *complete
yah from osaka a b16 is only 1100$ i think..... including motor tranny ecu axles linkage harness.... and thats expensive for a swap! actually ill do it for $2400!!!
