Can someone tell me what this part is?
But back to the distributor, yeah I thought it was the igniter too, but otherwise it's the hall-effect (or doppler) sensor for the CYP (cylinder position sensor).. Which sucks because Honda built it into the housing, when they discontinue that housing, no more sensors are availble.. (mine is now discontinued, had to have "fun" finding an aftermarket that really worked properly, ugh!).

Yeah they hate their lives so much, they come online to tell others how dumb they are, that's how unhappy these people are. It gives them "power" that they don't otherwise have in the real world. I've seen many posts like that on this forum.. I hope they get the professional help they need.

Ah damn I just now read your post. I hope I dont have any problem finding one. If thats even my problem. My problem may actually be the ignition control module. I'm going to replace it first but i noticed that plastic on the outside of the CYP sensor is cracked. Would that cause any problems?
I would test out components before throwing parts at it. Especially if one of them (cyp sensor) is physically damaged.
EDIT: You never mentioned what year/model/trim civic that came out of. I did look up the tec distributor for the 96-2000 civic, two different part numbers, but the tec is still available.
