Default OE Style 88-91 Hatchback Exhaust B-pipe

So it doesn't seem like Honda sells the OEM exhaust B-pipes anymore for the 88-91 hatchbacks. The only one I can find is a "Walker" brand, and it's a double-walled pipe that's not only heavy, but even narrower than the OEM Honda muffler piping.

Are there any alternative B-pipes that'll bolt up and use all the factory mounting locations and bolt to an OE muffler?

Probably be cheaper to have one made by a muffler shop. If not, check your local yards.

Yes, go to a muffler shop. I did that with my crx a long time ago..was relatively cheap for a b pipe (mine rusted out from the flange on the cat) and a new muffler...I think it was 65+85. I had to get a new axle back made up, and then later on my b pipe fell down one night driving to work. THAT was a scary experience lol.

sounds like a good excuse to buy a header.

Not the header or the A pipe. The long pipe that connects the converter to the axle-back.

I've never had all that good luck with muffler shops. They always screw up something and the pipe ends up rattling or banging against something. It's not that hard to do, but often the guys doing it aren't all that skilled (or just lazy).

BOSAL 286511

I used Bosal via Rockauto on my CRX and have been nothing but pleased thus far. Bigger, smaller, same diameter piping is all the same if you are just going for reliability on a daily.

Yes, that could possibly be the solution. It's not a double-walled (pipe in a pipe) like the walker, is it? It is cheaper than the Walker, so I'd imagine not.

This is the one I was referencing:

Amazon.com: Bosal 286-511 Exhaust Silencer: Automotive Amazon.com: Bosal 286-511 Exhaust Silencer: Automotive

It was basic 1.5" pipe on my CRX. Maybe 1.25", not sure, don't recall.

Says that one is for a sedan.

And I don't know why it's so difficult for manufactures to publish diameter specs.

Can you do me a favor and measure the OD of the Bosal B-pipe you have?

All of the junkyards around me cut the exhaust on both sides of the cat for recycling.
