GSR Valvetrain Questions
I have a GSR swap and I was looking into maybe doing some head work on the old girl. I've found that on jhpusa I can get a super-tech valvetrain kit for quite a decent deal (https://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/view...idproduct=7119).. now when I go to super-tech website and look up parts there are different sizes of valves and I'm wondering if there's reason to get the other sizes or if its just one of those things for the more serious "race car" applications. if someone could enlighten me I would be very appreciative.
Just contact supper tech and ask them your question and what oem replacement valves you would need...
What is your goal or reason to replace the valve train and have the head work done and what head work are you looking to do?
IMO i wouldn't replace any of the valve train parts unless your going to run after market cams. If your still going to use the oem gsr cams and just want to freshen up the head just have a machine shop rebuild the head with a valve job ect.. and install new valve seals at the very least. It will be like a brand new head with 0 miles.
Your not going to benefit from anything using a after market valve train if the engine is going to stay mostly stock and most importantly not tuned with aftermarket cams. And even if you chose to upgrade the valve springs and retainers valves are not necessary lots of people still use the OEM valves just depends on how serious you are with the engine.

well I planned on getting aftermarket cams for sure, id like to maybe add to a b18b1 bored .20 over with 9:1 cp pistons, golden eagle sleeves, eagle rods, crang plate breathers, moroso oil pan, ect. my buddy bought the built block and a turbo kit then decided to go euro so I can get the block on a good deal just looking to build a little to make it sunday reliable lol
