I just got a 2001 Accord that has a nasty rattle when idling (stopped) with the transmission in drive, and sometimes in neutral if the engine is running a little rougher. It's only audible in the cabin. I've isolated the rattle to somewhere around the evaporator case, and it's louder with the cabin air filters removed and that compartment opened. If I press really hard on the lower flange of the evaporator case (near the blower motor) the rattle goes away and if I pull that flange forward the rattle goes away. I'm thinking of taking the case out to see if something in the back needs to be tightened, but I'm concerned that I might break something. I couldn't find a video online that shows how to take it apart. Any tips?
