First it's annoying to see multiple posts of the same thing. I did search & found nothing to answer my question.
Im changing the timing belt, water pump & was thinking of the camshaft sprocket seal since it seems to be leaking a bit. My question is:
Upon getting the timing cover off my 1988 CRX si I noticed the camshaft sprocket markings are advanced a few degrees from where they should be. Note the picture. I did the TDC position correctly & have rechecked it a few times now. I replaced my distributor assemble awhile ago and did not use a timing light. What should I do to get things right? Should I put the cam sprocket back on, after replacing the seal, just how it is?
Really appreciate any help guys.
Disregard the red line. The markings ingraved are a few degrees forward of the cylinder head.
