is there a better option or a way to modify the oil pickup filter?
I wanted to have a better strainer before the oil pump so metal shavings don't get into oil pump and destroy it and lose oil pressure and destroy rest of the motor.
I don't mean having an oil filter before and after oil pump
but just curious if anyone seen or modified the oil pickup to filter slightly smaller particles that stock mesh?

Doing that will inhibit oil flow, and will cause the same type of damage a low oil level will. You also risk collapsing the filter screen itself. There is a reason that oil filters come with a overflow bypass valve: Contaminated flow is better than no flow at all.
A coarse screen is all you need. If you are particularly ****, use a metallic drain plug and an oil filter magnet.
