Default Threaded Coilover Cartridge Replacement Source

Does anyone have a good source for a Threaded Cartridge replacement?

I have been looking online and see this discussed a lot for cars other than Hondas.

I have a set of EMUSA coil overs from eBay(maybe I should pretend they are Blox coil over's instead so some of you may finish reading my post) From what I see it looks like most of these low end coil overs are basically the same dimensions. One of my rear struts, is blown, I think it may have actually come already blown but since they sat for 6 months before the install they are waaay out of warranty. Been driving on them for about a year at this point and had a knocking sound the whole time, I finally pulled them out and inspected them and one if definitely trashed.

I don't want to purchase a new set since 3 out of 4 are still good. I emailed the seller looking for a replacement shock but I doubt they will be willing to assist.

So back to my question, I am looking for the threaded Cartridge to replace the blown one, I should be able to re-use the lower mount, the adjusters, springs and top hat. I know that many of the manufacturers have them available but it seems that you need to call and speak to them and "if" they have them available they can sell them at an inflated price. lol
Has anyone had any luck? I'm looking for an Online store preferably.
FYI most likely I will end up replacing both rear struts so they perform the same. Maybe ill get lucky and get something that is more reliable and performs better.

So are you looking for the threaded sleeve or the strut? You say you have a blown strut so I do not understand how replacing the sleeve will help you any. Also If it was blown brand new, which it sounds like it was, they don't go bad just sitting for 6 months. Why would you want to put more money twards a trash product I don't get it.

My advice is to cut your losses I really doubt anyone here is going to help you with this brand cuz they have horrible quality. EMUSA is a vendor here you could PM them but again I wouldn't but anything from them, Hell if they gave it to me for free I would still not put it on my car I consider their parts as an downgrade from OEM not an upgrade.

I believe function form sells threaded body shocks as seperate items. So does megan racing. Will either of those work, dimensionally?

Yeah, sounds like he's looking for the replacement damper itself. Try hunting around the clone suspensions (Function/Form is already mentioned) to see who will sell you a replacement, but keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the damping will be the same between the two. I still feel like you're throwing good after bad though.

Visually it looks like they should work. I was hoping maybe someone had tried interchanging them a bit. I didn't see any obvious places to order them online. I did get a reply from the seller on ebay and they offered to sell me the replacement for $30. That's not bad at all. I would prefer to upgrade to a higher quality part but i'm strapped for cash. B20 swap, motor mounts, Axels, misc swap/auto to manual parts, new exhaust, then had to swap the transmission again because the first one was damaged. I have already spent a good $1500 and honestly the car is only worth about $1500. lol

Ill do another search specifically for Function/Form and Megan but if you happen to have the link to order online that would be cool. I'm hoping the vendor comes through but until its paid for and shipped we will see.

Its funny, last year at the swap meet there was always someone selling a used set of coil overs for the civic for about $50. Now that I need them.... none.

Heel toe and THmotorsports may be good places to look for megan or f&f replacements.

Found it... Honestly a little pricey. $140
Function and Form - Type 1 Replacement Shock (Single Shock)

Megan Racing RP-NS13-RS Street Series Replacement Shock REAR Only

I could always order a replacement spring perch and validate that the threads are the same. it would be a shame to keep putting money into my wifes car before getting parts for my own. lol

$140 each?!! A whole set of F&F's wouldn't be worth $140 to me even if they were dipped in gold and promised to soothe my pain on lonely nights.

You could consider a set of CTR/ITR shock and spring assemblies from a JDM importer. Usually like $300. Save yourself the trouble of installing a replacement set of EMUSA or F&Fail shocks only to have them fail again in a few days.

Well... $37 Shipped from boostmasters. Should be here by Monday. They should really sell the core on ebay, they would have a lot of buyers. lol Should buy me some time while a look for another solution and save some $$. The only real complaint I have is the rear springs are too soft. They are labeled at 237Kg. The fronts are 540Kg. I think if they were 540Kg front and back it would be happier. Ill keep my eyes open for a better set of rear springs.

237kg/mm and 540kg/mm? That'd be like solid steel beams.

Those rates would make sense in LB/in. Would translate to 9.6kg/mm front and 4.4kg/mm rear.

4.4 is fairly soft. Thats a little softer than a stock ITR rear spring.

They're soft so that cheap dampers can handle them. If you had 540lb springs in the back with those dampers, the car would bounce to the moon.

Yea I spend a few hours reading trying to understand the numbers. I'm not sure if they are normally labeled Kg for LB/in but maybe they are just mislabeled. I was thinking the numbers line up with LB/in as well.

Gotcha that makes Sense.

My Accord has Skunk 2 Coils with some KYB shocks that need to be replaced. They are not blown but I do get some bounce. When I got the accord it was in pretty bad shape, I got the KYB Shocks and Lowering springs pretty cheap but the car was too low. When I did my 5 lug swap I had to use a much stiffer spring because of the Wide TL rims I put on, they look great so it was worth it. lol
