i've searched enough and haven't found an answer to my question so maybe someone can answer it for me

i'm thinking of making my own cai out of abs piping coated with heat paint, but i don't know how big the pipe should be.

i have a 91 dx with the dpfi, so the size of the hole on the intake manifold is 2.5 inches. problem is i can't find any 2.5 inch abs pipe, or i haven't been looking hard enough, but i have a whole bunch of 3 inch pipe and 3 inch fittings.
will 3 inch pipe be to big for some reason?
i know if the pipe is too big there will be a lack of airflow to the engine wich will make for less power. is 3 inch pipe too big?

am i really thinking too much about this????

if you're here to flame get lost and go stare at a wall, it'll be more productive

 

The DX DPFI engine doesnt respond well to breathing easier. It is pretty much usless to even bother adding a CAi to it. Go for the MPFI swap.
