1999 civic and a dream
Hey,
I'm a complete beginner, Ill probably get bashed and dissed by some of you freaks. But every tip and advice is nice.
I have a 1999 honda civic lx stock.
My problem is its too slow. I don't to sell and buy a new car. I rather put and invest in this one. My choice.
It only has like 106hp and I'm trying to get it to a decent horse power.
This is what I was planning on getting.

4 2 1 Stainless Steel Racing Header Manifold Exhaust D Series EG EJ EK D15A D16A | eBay)
I was thinking of getting a perfomance chip, but i'm not sure if my engine will be able to handle it? thoughts?
I was also looking into a turbo charge.
I don't wany something too expensive and too big for my car, i want a light one? any recommendations on names? what to look for
and one more questions.
what is this
1992-2001 Honda H22 H23 Turbo Intercooler with Piping Kits
what else can i add for my car? interior wise? exterior wise! both looks and perfomance.
thanks to everyone that will effectively help me .

dear new member,
The only way to get any performance out of that engine is to boost it. Your other option is to do a motor swap to either a K, B, or J swap.

^^^^As an owner of a 2000 ex I say yes what they said. I always suggest sticking with maintenance and appearance upgrades while saving for a nice swap or a maybe a turbo but really swaps are getting pretty inexpensive if you are patent
Dear new member: What the **** are you thinking? You get what you pay for. Use the FAQ sticky, and if you decide to go for boost, be ready to spend $2000 at the minimum. A "turbo kit" for under $3500 will turn around and bite you in the ***.
Dear new member slow is a subjective term. Your car can do 80 mph, right? Trying coming off an interstate off ramp at 80 mph and report back. JK..please don't try that but, what i am getting at is there is straight line speed and there is cornering speed that needs to be considered. Yes, 106 hp is pretty ball-less, even more ball-less is the engine's torque. However, an overall ball-less car like yours can still be fun if in corners and winding roads if:
1) manual transmission
2) lowered (think Go-Kart.. fun to drive because chassis is so close to road)
3) improved suspension and decrease body roll
MG's, early Miata's, Triumph's, Fiero's and several other small "sport" cars from the 1960's to present didn't emphasize horsepower. They were based on lightweight handling and suspension.
