I'm soon going to be acquiring a 91 Integra ls 2 dr hatchback its some serious problems the timing belt shredded while In motion and the camshaft is locked im not sure about how sever the engine damage is but I plan on swapping a whole new engine I saw on hmotors there was a 88-92 zc sohc long block that would have everything I believe but I dint know if the transmission would need to be replaced too the transmission o. The site is a 5 speed zc transmission. Is that automatic ? Cause the car is automatic. Thank you for reading and hope to get some helpful responses also sorry for any mispellimg I can't see what I'm typing on my phone for some reason

Why not just get another B18A1?

And a 5 speed ZC is a manual transmission.

Dude, the b18 a1/b1 is really a good motor. no its no k series or vtec but it has perfect compression and with a bottom end build you have a machine that can be perfect for a turbo. 9.2:1 Stock compression ratio is great news for a turbo guy. I've priced everything out and reliability and power wise its silly not get another b18 a1/b1 here's just one option for a builder if you need a complete or a longblock Acura engines & short blocks. I don't know his reputation but it goes to show 1700.00 for a complete rebuilt with .25 0versixed pistons isn't bad...look around and you'll be surprised

I would build the block yourself if your motivated and can teach yourself what you need to know all the info is here on line just dedicate some hours to picking it all up. on the internet time is money the more time you spend learning and understanding the more money you save if you don't cut corners

Best case scenario the belt just needs to be replaced if the engine was at a low rpm when the belt snapped or the valves are bent and just need the head pulled off and repaired or you might have a cracked piston along with the damaged head...

If your not mech inclined replace the engine and call it a day, just find another LS long block or even a b20 long block and slap your transmission on it and your golden. A snapped belt won't affect the transmission.

Not related to this post, but recently bought a 92 teggy with a b18a1 in the car was automatic now manual. When driving the car it doesn't go into 2nd smooth has a little delay before it will let me shift in and reverse is a little tricky to shift into. Do you think its a throwout bearing or maybe a nice fluid flush and fill will do the trick.
Thanks

Lets stay focused on the OP's issues not someone elses problem posted on someone elses thread.

Its great to want to help but its better for him to make his own thread if he feels the need to from not finding his answer searching. Then we will be happy to help him.

Are you sure the valves aren't stuck? I went through that with bad gas, after my B18A1 sat for some time. The guide clearance is really tight on these engines. Removing the head is likely not necessary, after learning the trick. Sloooly pry down each valve to open, and spray starting fluid into the plug hole. The starting fluid will mist above the valve face on the stem and free it up, after repeating the process several times for each valve. No valves had bent in the process, although the initial event obviously happened at startup and not at speed. That happened at 186k, and the car's currently at 204k now.
