Default Couple of problems with my 94 accord

First and foremost is the ignition lock problem. Its as simple as the key will not come out when I turn the vehicle off. When I push the key in to turn off it will only get as far as the 2 position in the cylinder. I did some research and found that the shifter cable may not be aligned properly. Is that something I can do myself? Does that involve me using my key next to the selector?

Next problem is my car will start in the morning and I drive to work like normal. When I get off work, start the car and drive like 7 miles and stop for a cold drink at a convenient store. Inside for a couple of minutes and come out when I try to start the car, It starts for like a millisecond and shuts down. I try to start it again and just cranks and doesn't come on. I have to wait a few minutes before It starts again. It didn't used to do this until a couple of weeks ago. I have gone as far as not turning the car off for the fear of it not starting up again while I run in. TIA

Sounds like you simply need a lock cylinder.

When it doesn't start you need to immediately test for spark and fuel. That will help narrow the issue down. Check for any stored codes.

Issue with the car not starting back again may be related to the main relay, if that is the case, you need to solder the thing up and it shouldn't happen again.

That is an interlock issue with the shifter.
Verify the shifter is fully in PARK. Don't crash it into park, but shift down to D1 and quickly back into PARK to see if that will release the key, if not the shifter cable may be in need of adjustment.

Start diagnostics by using TECHAUTOs page on the subject.
How to replace the ignition switch or troubleshoot (Honda, Acura)

So, I have been wrestling with the lock for the last couple of days and I have managed to get it out just by moving and fumbling around with the key in the lock. Its been getting progressively worst the few times I have gotten it out. So today I went to work and I spent 15 minutes after I got to work just trying to get it out. Finally when I got home I have been at it for nearly 30 minutes, and have not been able to get it out as of yet. I also looked at the tsb on the shift cable by moving it back and forth while in the P. No go. I really think its a key/tumbler issue. I dismantled the plastic around the steering column. I need to know if there is something I can do to release the key. I unplugged the green chime plug (you can see in picture 4) that was annoying me while I try to take the key out. I snapped a few photos . Also if I need to remove the tumbler assembly, need to know how to proceed. Just need to know what to do next. If I have to replace the assembly, money is a factor because I am on a budget. Thanks. BTW: As far as the Main relay needing replacement that comes later, as this is a more pressing issue because this is my work vehicle.

Ok, so I figured out what was wrong with my key not coming completely out. The first picture shows the black cap on the switch end cover wasn't completely on. Its hard to tell because it wasn't visible to the naked eye while it was on the car. It was only when I took the the tumbler/switch that I figured it out.

Also I had to remove the 2 "Flat Top" bolts circled in picture 2. I need to know the part # if there is one or part # to another year or model that has the 2 8mm bolt top nuts. Thanks. In short I want 2 8mm bolts so I can easily tighten and remove without using an nail putter and hammer next time.

Take one of the old ones to the parts store and get the proper length....I'll guess they are 8x1.25 by "some length"....hence why taking one of the old ones will help.

the non start issue is most definitely a main relay / fuel pump relay issue. happened on literally all of my accords of that era
