For the life of me I cannot get the passenger axle to pop into place. The driver side went back in real easy. Now neither the old nor new axle will pop in. I even removed the circlip and cannot get it to slide all the way in. It seems to stop about 3/8" from seating fully.

 

Have you used a flashlight and inspected it? Is there a possibility that the old clip is still in there (that CAN happen).

 

Old clip is on old axle that came out.

 

Have you compared lengths of the old and new axle splined shafts?

 

27 matching splines. Length to ridged collar identical. Splines a little longer on new vs non machined on old but basically identical

 

When properly seated it will appear to be out a tad but its fine.

 

It had a distinct difference compared to other side

 

During installation verify the open end of the circlip is up. If the circlip is facing down the open ends may catch on the side gear and jam. Verify the circlip is of the correct size for the axle, if its OD is larger than the splined OD then the axle will never seat. It should be a smaller OD when the ends are compressed together. Use the axle itself as a slide hammer to pop the axle in. If you are still having issues remove the axle and rotate it 180° and retry. That last 1/4" to pop in can be a difficult at times.

 

I removed the circlip in its entirity and could still not push it all the way in. I encountered the same problem on the old shaft and still couldnt push it in (Just didnt remove the circlip on that one)

 

Have you shined a light in the transmission to see what's going on? Have you ever done axles before? My first thought is that you're just not pushing it hard enough, but there could be something broken in there. You need to make sure there isn't before you take this next step. If everything looks okay in the transmission, hold the axle straight, thread the old nut on there backwards to protect the threads and hit the nut on the end with a big hammer. I've had to do this to pop them in before on the passenger side.

 

I will try using the hammer. Its not my first rodeo with axles, just none on an accord. Ive done both axles twice on a manual 93 civic and an axle on an 06 Ody. I shined a light in it and didnt see anything that could be obstructing, unless there is something that is out of position sitting at the end of the axle and that I cant tell since Im not sure what is supposed to be in there.

 

I have noticed that the P side axle is a ***** to pop in vs the D side.
With the axle mostly installed, save for that last part, place the trans in N and rotate the axle backwards and forward a bit. The gears may be locked/loaded and there may be a slight misalignment causing the axle to not fully seat.

 

With the front on jackstands, put it all back together, obviously without putting the wheels back on and have someone put it in drive while you watch the axles. See if the axles turn and it doesn't leak. It's likely you're just imagining it.

 

Ok putting it in neutral and working back and forth finishing with some slide-hammer action got it in there. Though something is still dripping pretty bad. I replaced both seals so either something is **** eyed or the Trans is leaking somewhere else
