Default Ride height with EKK1 mounts.

I have a 97 civic with a k20a2 and ekk1 placement. I am currently running 215/50/16 tires, eibach sportlines? and kyb agx shocks. This gives my aluminum pan less than a lighters clearance from the ground and it being placed out in front for the tires makes speed bumps and driveways an issue.

Will a topped out set of ground control coilovers give me another inch in ride height over my current setup? Should I try and find stock springs from a DC integra? I am really not comfortable with having the oil pan so low, what are my options?

Thanks,

Shouldn't be a problem, it depends on what length of springs you are using. You may have to order longer ones.

At the highest point GC's will drop the car 1/2''.. You can order longer springs though. Careful you don't go too long.

Personally, I would have gone with EKK2 mounts.

Thanks for the replies! I will contact GC and see if they can do a spring that is an inch longer. Im thinking about 300/300 for the spring rates along with some Koni sport shocks. Its a DD that will also be taken to the road courses around the south east area for track days. Opinions?

As far as the dry sump option, maybe when they stop making them out of solid gold.

I would run higher rates than 300 in the front. Especially if you're dangerously close to bottoming out the oil pan. I'm running 400's in the front and they still feel too soft for me. Keep in mind the rear will affect ride quality more than the front will and you'll be able to run a lower rate in the rear without the risk of damaging your oil pan. I'd go with a higher rate in the front and a lower rate in the rear.

Unless this car spends a lot of time on the track and doesn't see daily duty I would stagger the rates and run a pretty substantially higher rate in the front to offset your engine clearance issue.

You might want to reconsider on the mounts still. Better engine position, better axle angle, more clearance in the front, they're really a win all around

rollinmyda My thinking is that if I raise the car to a similar ride height as a stock type r and run a similar spring rate it would be a decent compromise. Do you think I will get too much dive under braking with the 300 in the front? This car will spend its life on the track and in ATL traffic.

spAdam Agree, EKK2>EKK1 To be honest, in a year or so once I finish tuning this setup I think I am going try to find an RS integra to swap it into that way the new shell can be prepped and painted without any downtime and I can get the better mounting position and JDM yo front end I want.

Kind Regards,

Who knows, by then you might be fitting a K20C in the new car
