Default 2005 civic issues with no power

I have a 2005 civic sedan 297 000 kms on it. It is in with Honda mechanics right now but my faith is gone with them. I explained I drove it 15 mins then I lost all power to lights, gauges, speedometer, etc. I was able to get to work then it sat for 4 hours & then started it right up. Drove for 5 mins then it did the same thing and completely died. I sat for 20 mins then it started right up then drove for 5 mins & it completely died again. I have a battery that is only 2 years old, terminal posts are clean. I live in country & wonder if mice may have chewed wiring. It has been looked at by Honda all day today & they say there are no codes coming up. when I asked if they tested alternator they said no as there are no error codes so there is no point. Can someone please tell me ....just because no error codes does that mean alternator is fine? What other possibilities could it be?

Try cleaning and tightening the battery ground attachment to the chassis.
