Does anyone know where I could find the front grille for an 87 crx? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

 

I am looking at getting an 87 crx, I have found one, but the guy doesn't know why it won't turn over. He said it ran until he got home and turned it off. Now it won't start. I am very interested in owning this car, but I need to have an idea on what needs fixed.

1) Please add your location to your Profile. You'd be surprised how much more likely people are to help you when you do that.

2) If by "front grille" you mean the piece between the hood and the front bumper (and I'm 98% sure you do, because that's what always gets broken) then it is called a "header panel", and you should have better luck finding one by searching for that name. Your rather limited options are...

* Find one locally in a junkyard or on craigslist. Difficult to do because they are almost always broken, and when they aren't the salvage guys want a LOT for them.

* Try searching the classifieds over at redpepperracing. Also difficult, because many members over there need one too, but it's a great resource for info on 1Gs. (hint: they have a complete FSM posted there. )

* Ebay. You can find reproduction header panels on ebay for a reasonable price. They aren't perfect reproductions, but they're good enough, and they're just about the only thing you're likely to find.


As far as the non-starting issue, it could be lots of things. Did the camshaft break or did the timing belt jump a few teeth? Is compression good? Fuel pump still working? Let us know what you find.
