I did the auto to manual swap years ago and I never got around to wiring the reverse lights, I read on the thread here or some other site that you have to run wire from the yellow and green/black wire on reverse light switch on tranny to the same wires on the auto shift selector in the dash, well I know where both of these things are I just dont know what kind of wire to buy... does it have to be a certain kind? all the write up said was "run wire to complete the circuit" and told you what colors, I need to know what kind of wire and also how to wire it, do i just clip the wires and tie them together with the new wire? does it need to be crimped? soldered? I tried to search this but couldnt find any other help than what ive specified, thanks guys

 

I completed my auto to manual swap not long ago. Here are the posts that are relevant to the wiring. I think I used 16 gauge speaker wire I had laying around and even that was much larger than the factory connectors and wiring it was being linked with. I soldered the wires together, used heat shrink covers, and wrapped them with electrical tape. It all depends on how worry free you want your work to be. If you were just looking for a quick fix you could use wire nuts to join the wires but I'm sure the vibration would make them fall off every now and then and short out somewhere.

Just buy some hook up wire. You can get it anywhere that sells things like that including Walmart. I'm not sure what the factory size is on those, but I'd go with 16 or 18 gauge to be safe. It's easy to work with, but thick enough you won't have problems.
