I have a 90 crx with a jdm d16zc dohc swap thats throwing a code 9 Sputters and jerks at low rpms you get past 2 grand and she runs smooth. Checked the timing its dead on new cap and button and coil in the dizzy all grounds checked and cleaned. All injectors firing same with plugs swapped the camshaft position sensor wires back and fourth with no change leave it unplugged and still no change

If you have a code 9, fix it? That's your issue. It is likely a toasted sensor and you'll need a new distributor. Try a new dizzy and if it doesn't fix the problem, you can start trouble shooting other possible issues.

the cylinder sensor, which gives you the code 9, for the DOHC ZC is on the end of the exhaust camshaft, not in the distributor - it is extremely rare for the sensor to be bad (but could be) - check the wiring to the sensor to make sure it is wired correctly - the Blue/Green wire on the sensor runs to ECU pin C1 and the Blue/Yellow runs to ECU pin C2 - also check the camshaft timing - if the exhaust camshaft is off one tooth, you will get CEL with a code 9

I had a very similar situation that you are describing, after I did the DPFI to MPFI swap. I got a new distributor, new wires, new plugs, cleaned the injectors, got a new ECU, nothing worked. Via the Honda Service Manual, I checked the voltage on the ECU and the Distributor and they were in the acceptable range. Finally I left my multimeter in the ECU slots and had a friend shake the wire harness in the engine. The multimeter readings went all over the place and after slowly taking the wire harness apart, starting at the distributor, I noticed that the wires from the distributor to the ECU had a break and that the vibrations from the car were causing the code 9 and the rough driving. You may want to try the same method.

code 9 on the DOHC ZC has nothing to do with the distributor
