1991 CRX Headlight Issue (low beams went out and highs beams 10 seconds later)
I was driving the car this morning, and the low beams went out simultaneously (dash lights, running lights etc all stayed on) and I couldn't see anything on the road.
I immediately hit the brights and they worked for about 10 seconds perfectly, then they went out as well simultaneously.
I was able to get off the road, and I checked the fuses for left and right high and low beams, and replaced them just in case although they all looked fine. Neither low or high beams still work.
I checked the 50 amp fuse under the hood labeled "Lights" and it looked fine, but I didn't have a replacement for it, so I just re-seated it. Does this fuse also control the running / brake lights?
I had to go home and switch cars, but my next step tonight is to use a volt meter at the fuse box to see if I am receiving any current there.
Is this a common problem? Since all the fuses are good and have been replaced I am thinking it is the actual headlight switch assembly.
Any tips or past experience with this problem would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Alright I tested the power at the internal fuse box for the headlights. I pulled the fuse for each headlight and the fuse slots are reading .2V when the headlights are on, and .00 when off.
The running lights fuse slots register at 12.5V+
I checked all grounds and replaced the 2 50AMP fuses in the engine bay fuse box just to be safe.
At this point I am thinking of disassembling the steering column to test the power feeding the headlight switch unless someone has another suggestion.
Any other tips would be appreciated, I have already ordered a replacement headlight switch assembly to be safe. (I will return it if it is not needed)

It appears the voltage regulator wasn't working in the alternator.
All the filaments in the bulbs were melted, and when the car was not running the battery voltage was reading 12.5V.
Cranked the car and the voltage spiked to 19.5 at the battery so I shut the car off and am replacing the alternator as it had a life time warranty. Now just to see if Autozone will pay for the headlights I just purchased a few days ago.

Good work fixing it, and thanks for posting the resolution.
