I have 97 civic lx. i had a leaky gas tank so i ordered one up and turns out i have a Japanese version civic and the tank i ordered is a US version tank. Now, the fuel gauge sending unit is different between the two. the fuel pump transferred into the new tank just fine. the fuel gauge on my factory tank has a lock ring for securing it down. the new tank uses a plate and nut to secure it down. my question is, can i order a US fuel gauge sending unit and use that instead? TIA

 

Yes. You can just get a good used one to save some $. As a bonus, resell your old fuel level sender as a 92-95 Civic one and you should get about 40-50$ for it since these did not exist in North America but people use them to retrofit.
