Default Sfwd parachute size info

Looking for racers input on a chute size for sfwd Honda cars going over 170 plus , I currently use a stroud 400 series , I need to purchase a new one it's got some tears and rips from lots of use , as per strouds website vs our car weight and trap speed we should be using 430 , from what I have spoken to a few racers that a 430 will hit too hard and possible cause car to lift . What do you guys recommend or are using in our class 2450 pound car ,Simpson stroud ect ?

400 is just to light of a chute. I would recommend the 410

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know what the difference is between the 400-410-430 ? Is it a bigger chute or it's longer ?

Not on a FWD car..

A 400 will not get you in trouble and its enough to slow the car down. It wont stop the car on its own, You still need to brake.

I believe its just bigger. the 400 is VERY long. The longer the chute line the softer it hits.

Chutes are made to slow the cars down not stop them. The calculator on stroud site isn't a good reference for fwd cars due to lack of rear weight.

The 248 I believe is strouds smallest chute. The other car traps 169mph and stops no problem with it. We wanted to eliminate any chance of the rear lifting.
