OEM Nose Mask -Warning Fitment Issues
Hey Guys,
I purchased the nose mask because of the amount of driving that I do. I've had my Si since the beginning of May and I just rolled 9200 miles.
I had the dealer install a 3M Clearbra, but it doesn't protect from dents. I wanted something a bit more durable.
I've always liked the look of nose masks. I know they're usually less than popular. Anyway, fitment is HORRIBLE. Honda did a crap job of designing this nose mask. From the way it fits around the corners of the headlights, to trying to get the tabs around the headlights (no clearance), to the mounting. Just bad!
I wanted to forewarn anyone thinking of purchasing one

I'll be returning it-

With that being said, I'll be returning it to the point of sale.

You say it fits horribly, but I actually disagree, and on the contrary it appears to fit surprisingly well given the shape of the front end. Keep in mind, this is a piece of LEATHER we're talking about here which does not have the benefit of being stretched tight with hog rings and adhesive as in interior leather upholstery.
Studying the design of the mask, it actually fits like a relative glove judging by the sewn seams with regard to matching up perfectly with the contours/creases.
I suppose your primary complaint is the "bunching" in some places but this is sometimes virtually impossible to avoid without the use of stretching it tight and adhesive. I will say the bunching along the bottom looks entirely fixable with some better installation technique. Same as with the "slack" on the areas around the foglights.
But it really looks to me like Honda did an admirable job in actuality.

You bought it to do one job, and its doing just that. I completely understand what you're using it for and your concerns about fitment, but there is going to be some trade offs on an item like this. it doesn't look too bad, and I agree - take it off and try to reinstall it differently. It might help.

this is the only pic that actually looks horrible

Lol, what did you expect?
Looks pretty darn good to me. The lower grill area looks like it has two mounting points where the fabric is stretched, not sure what you were wanting.

it doesn't look that bad at all... I think you just need to invest sometime to get it to fit right!

Never was a fan of these in terms of look and how it affect the paint but for the reason why you got it I would consider it too... but again it doesn't look that bad at all.
